Little Weather House Dwarves - Kleine Wetterhauswichtel

I love making constructions and these little weather house dwarves live in small houses that look like them. This is fixed by decree in the Fairy Reign after some of them tried to look like fairies stealing their second pair of wings (the ones for special days and celebrations). They can also rotate around if they want to. They can forebode weather very badly though because they like much more to talk about naughty fairies who lose their wands and this kind of things... I think they are really pissed off about the decree...

The piece is about 11" x 10" (27 x 25 cm). It is heavily embroidered by hand and machine and has also some hand appliqué. You can frame it or hang it as is because it has a wire hanger.

The tale of how (Short Film) - Die Geschichte von Wie (Kurz-Film)

I'm so in love with this tale! It's name is "The Tale of How" and you can find it at the site of The Blackheart Gang. I recommend to use the High Quality - 29 MB resolution version. The music and the poem are wonderful. You find the text of the poem on the same page.

Enjoy!

Tell me a secret - Erzähl mir ein Geheimnis

These two garden fairies are discussing a secret under the sun, moon and stars... Of course I don't know what it's all about but in a day where sun, moon and stars shine at the same time you could hear some of the conversation.

The piece is about 7" x 11" (18 x 28 cm). It is worked in many techniques and I used many wonderful materials from my stash (also silk fibers) to do it. Self dyed cheesecloth/scrim shows through the wool as flowers on the meadow and also through the sky. The little clowd is made of lace. The ferns are dyed speciality threads.

This piece is meant to be framed. I don't give a heavy cardstock on the back so that I can keep the shipping costs low. You could do that, but I prefer to use small pieces of double sided tape (the one you use for the carpets) to bond it to the background of the frame. The sun, moon and stars would look great showing out of the passepartout.

I found this at Ulla's - Ich habe dies bei Ulla gefunden

Ulla has the most informative blog in the web for me! That's not because I found this photo with a piece she has from me on the wall, but for the utmost interesting things and artists she discovers! If you never visited her blog you have to!! over and over again!!

I find she also created the most interesting setting for this piece. The photo is a work of art itself!

Thanks, Ulla!

Love under the moon - Liebe unter dem Mond

I finally could work today! I don't feel good if I don't work in my studio once a day. I had so many things to do though that I spent more time at the computer than sewing or embellishing...

These little elves meet under the full moon in a May night. Love is in the air and a small angel elf watches the scene.

The piece is about 6" x 10" (with hanger) or 15 x 25 cm.

It is mainly made with the embellisher and stitched by hand.

What I did today... - Was ich heute gemacht habe...

Well, I just finished something I began yesterday. I wanted to see better the colours of the wool and so I put chunks of wool in preserve glasses.

It all began there. After that I couldn't stop and now I'm already tidying the whole storage...

Aren't the glasses wonderful? such colours! Now I'm getting all inspired because I couldn't work any more in the mess I had.

This piece is the one I made for TIF in May.

At the same time it is my piece for the new group I belong: Tricias Textile Challenge.

The idea was to use these colours:

The photo looks different but the original is quite similar.

It is the symbol for bio-hazard. I thought about combining it with three jesters (because we are subject to a mad play) who have hats that can also be anchors, the symbol of hope.

The stitching of the ring in the middle should evoque a Celtic ornament because the whole thing looks quite celtic...

It's a small piece, about 4" x 6".

New Look - Neues Aussehen

I created a new header and did some small changes in my blog.

I wanted to update the look of it because it was a little bit crowded.

Now you find my music choices on the bottom!

I also found a new widget showing who are the persons who leave usually more comments on my blog. I appreciate so much your loyalty and interesting views about different subjects.

Of course, I love you all who send comments and I try to keep in touch with most of you. As time allows...

Now I'm ripe for a coffee, have a nice weekend!

Gentle silent helpers - Sanfte leise Helfer

I just finished a piece I began at my daughter's house. I hadn't taken my materials with me and I used fabrics I found at her place. Now at home I did some embellisher work to add to the hand work.

The two small children on the piece are watched by their guardian angels without they noticing this. They keep talking about the little sheep...

I machine embroidered rather transparent the name of the piece in the sky so that you're not distracted with the words.

I also tried Jude's technique of weaving of stripes for the background.
The piece is about 15" x 14" (38 x 36 cm).

Art to Use - Kunst zum Verwenden

I'm back and working. I had a big time in Germany teaching the workshop about the possibilities of the embellisher. I met very nice ladies and got some new ideas travelling around.

Now I finished a picture you can use as a pincushion. Why can art don't be useful? I made some pins for it indeed and my pincushion fairy is very eager to use it!. She looks at the little garden full of flowers and at the tree blooming in the corner.

I used many techniques and worked with the embellisher and the sewing machine. I did lots of hand stitching. The fairy is made as trapunto.

I like these pincushions to hang near my sewing machine. I put different needles in each part of the surface, so that I can distinguish f.i. the embroidery needles from the sewing machine ones.

It is about 11" x 11"/7" (without hanger). 28 x 28/18 cm.
